Little bird titled its tiny head as my flute began to play …seemingly mesmerized by the magic sound of its melody. Soon it started its own bird song as if trying to speak with me. Two voices, two spirits connected in nature. And when I finish you fly away.

Flute Under a Pear Tree

|
The tree stands in the backyard, planted long ago by my father. It bears fruit ever year, though we can never eat so much. I get the sense that my father is watching down over us, pleased by his hard labour, laughing at such a thought. I place my flute under the tree, then play a song…the sounds fills the air, while the the birds above resting on the telephone cable wonder who has joined them.

The red moon rises over the horizon by the sea of this harbour town. Its magical face illuminates the ocean below as if guiding the voyages of the seafaring ships of old. The dance in the sky between the sun and the moon continues for another eve. What beauty, simply breath taking….

I am Quiet, I am still. I am within myself and without. I am connected to all things above and below…inside me. I feel the eternal flow. I look in all directions and see the earth and sky fused as one on the distant horizon, bound together endlessly throughout time.

I feel the gentle breeze. How it caresses my face and whispers in my ear. The tall trees dance with splendour, as the leaves touch each other like holding your lovers hand while out walking. Touching the earth, sharing its life giving breath. The wind inspires a sense of wonder within me.

I sit on these fallen leaves, with my back resting against this ancient tree. I close my eyes and drift away to a far off place of peace and stillness. I take solace in the feeling, being alive & touched by the sacred spirit within these woods.

Through the trees I can hear distant sounds. Voices from the past of others that have walked here. Children laughing, while their elders look on after them. I take in its quiet beauty. There is something magical about walking through the woods after a rainfall....nature...so alive and fresh....the scent of the trees, the smell of the leaves, a gentle wind...the earth beneath your feet as you walk...the sound of the birds in the trees singing....little creature running around playfully... makes you feel connected to a greater thought of life...breathe in.
